Helpful Hints:
Whether this is your first or fiftieth time to use a professional pet sitter, there are some things you can do to help your sitter take the best possible care of your furry kids. You can help insure that each pet-care assignment will be a successful arrangement for all involved.
- Before leaving, adjust the thermostat for your pet’s comfort.
- Notify your veterinarian that a sitter will be caring for your pet and authorize the vet to extend medical care in your absence.
- Make sure your pet sitter is aware of anyone who will be on your premises or entering your home during the pet-sitting assignment.
- If your pet is prone to chew, please take precautions to guard your belongings from his teeth while you are away.
- Let your sitter know if certain areas are off limits to the pets.
- Inform your neighbors of your absence and use of a pet sitter.
- Notify the alarm company that a pet sitter will be entering your home and provide the sitter with alarm password in case alarm goes off.
- Count heads just before you leave to make sure all pets are present.
- Provide extra food, litter and supplies in case your return is delayed.
- Make sure fences are secure and gates are locked.
- Notify the pet sitter promptly upon returning home.
